Product offering

Materials for CNC-turned seals

We supply semi-finished products and materials intended for turning seals and technical components. Material selection is based on the medium, temperature, pressure, friction, required elasticity and the operating characteristics of the part.

01

Polyurethanes, elastomers and plastomers for production of CNC-turned seals.

02

Material selection for hydraulic oil, brake fluid, temperature and sliding applications.

03

Material parameters facilitating quick comparison of hardness, color and temperature range.

Material groups

  • polyurethanes for hydraulics, guides and high-wear applications
  • elastomers for sealing work: NBR, HNBR, FKM/FPM, EPDM and VMQ
  • plastomers and sliding materials: PTFE, modified PTFE, PA6 and PEEK
  • materials for oil, thermal, food and chemical applications

How we select the material

  • we check the working medium, temperature, pressure and speed of motion
  • we compare hardness, deformation, friction and wear resistance
  • we consider dry running, lubrication, contact with water or chemicals
  • we select material for the seal profile, guide or technical component

Process

How we handle an inquiry

01 Analysis of operating conditions

We determine the medium, temperature, pressure, speed of motion and friction requirements.

02 Material comparison

We compare polyurethanes, elastomers, PTFE and engineering plastics for specific operating conditions.

03 Semi-finished product selection

We check diameters, hardness, color, temperature range and availability of material for turning.

04 Recommendation

We indicate the base material and an alternative when operating conditions require a compromise between friction, resistance and cost.

Materials

Material selection for medium and temperature

Polyurethanes

high abrasion resistance, hydraulic systems, guides and mechanical loads

Elastomers

NBR, HNBR, FKM, EPDM and VMQ for sealing duty in various media

PTFE

low friction coefficient, wide temperature range and very good chemical resistance

PEEK / PA6

structural, support and guiding components and parts requiring higher stiffness

Technical selection

Data needed for inquiry

If you do not have complete data, send a photo of the part, groove dimensions or operating conditions. We will help determine the missing parameters.

  1. planned seal profile or material application
  2. medium, temperature, pressure and speed of motion
  3. requirements for hardness, friction, wear and dry running
  4. semi-finished product diameter, part dimensions or technical drawing
  5. information whether the material will operate in hydraulic oil, brake fluid, water, steam or chemicals

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which material to choose for turned seals in hydraulics?

Polyurethanes are used in many hydraulic systems due to abrasion resistance and load capacity. Final selection depends, however, on the medium, temperature, pressure, speed of motion and seal profile.

When is PTFE better than polyurethane?

PTFE should be considered for low friction, wide temperature range, more aggressive chemicals or applications where elastomer or polyurethane wears out too quickly.

Does material color indicate specific resistance?

Color helps identify material but should not be the sole basis for selection. Mix parameters, hardness, operating temperature and resistance to the medium are decisive.

What data to provide when inquiring about material for turning?

Provide application, medium, temperature, pressure, speed of motion, required profile or part drawing and expectations regarding hardness and wear resistance.
